Money can buy love, but you need US$1m to be eligible for elite dating service
In what appears to be a direct challenge to Paul McCartney, Violet Lim Seow Yan has set out to prove that money can, in fact, buy you love.
Lim is co-founder and CEO of dating and matchmaking services Eteract.com eSynchrony and Lunch Actually. Through her companies, Lim says, she has been responsible for more than 20,000 dates and hundreds of happy couples.
A crowd of the lovelorn and loaded headed to the Azure restaurant in Central on Wednesday to meet Lim and celebrate the launch of her newest venture, Lunch Actually Platinum. It's exclusively for Asia's most affluent singles. For a hefty fee, the service goes beyond matchmaking, offering an image consultant, personal shoppers, a dating coach and a date concierge.
Lim seems to know what she's doing. She turned her back on a prestigious law degree and a master's from the London School of Economics and gave up a plum job at Citibank when she saw how hapless her colleagues were when it came to romance. She moved to New York to study matchmaking and is now Asia's premier matchmaker.
If you don't have US$1 million in the bank, the minimum to be eligible for Lunch Actually Platinum, you can still check out her dating blog, www.violetlim.com Like love used to be, it's free.
