Hong Kong's first Fashion's Night Out draws celebrity line-up

Before the Hong Kong debut of Fashion's Night Out, many guests were not sure exactly what the event was all about.

The global initiative, sponsored by and the Council of Fashion Designers of America, was first held in New York in 2009 during the city's fashion week. Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai participated for the first time this year.

The main action on Fashion's Night Out in Hong Kong on Friday happened at Lane Crawford. Shopping privileges, including the launch of limited-edition designer T-shirts, were available throughout the day at all its branches.

In the evening, Lane Crawford held an exclusive party at its store in the IFC Mall in Central, with free-flowing champagne, vodka cocktails and canapés keeping guests happy. Celebrities who turned up included models Amanda Strang, Lisa Selesner and Jocelyn Luko, fashion party regular Wyman Wong Wai-man and fashion designer Johanna Ho.

Many guests queued up to get temporary tattoos and have their T-shirts customised. Staff kept a close eye on tipsy customers on the verge of spilling champagne over expensive high-heeled shoes and exotic skin purses.

We're still not sure if it was just another excuse to party up a storm before the end of summer, or a stimulus package dressed up as a glossy fashion extravaganza.
