SCMP appoints two managing editors

The has appointed two managing editors to assist the editor-in-chief in overseeing the paper's website and general operations.

Both were hired to strengthen editorial administration and enable the newsroom to pursue a multi-platform product development strategy.

Brian Rhoads was named managing editor to help oversee the editorial administration of the newsroom. He has 16 years' experience with Reuters, seven of which were spent as China bureau chief, based in Beijing.

Rhoads' responsibilities include optimising newsroom operations and implementing best practices to meet the highest quality standards.

Sarah Graham was named managing editor of SCMP.com She has 14 years' experience in online journalism in Britain, where she was most recently managing editor of Daily Mail Online. Graham will help the online editor manage the digital news team, train staff of the printed newspaper in multimedia skills and speed up the digital transformation of the newsroom.

"I believe these individuals will greatly enhance our team and our newsroom operations, and help us take our print and digital products to the next level," said Editor-in-Chief Wang Xiangwei.
