Lai Ying-kit

A 24-year-old man was arrested by the police on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the rape of a 12-year-old girl in a Sheung Shui housing estate.
The man was arrested in the Ching Ho Estate. Hooded and wearing a white T-shirt, he was taken back to the estate by police officers to help with investigations on Wednesday.
Police did not provide further details of the arrested man’s identity.
The girl was reportedly assaulted on a staircase on the estate at about 6.20pm on her way home after school. Her parents reported the assault to police.
Earlier, police said they were looking for a Chinese man about 1.7 metres tall with black curly hair in connection with the case.
