Blaze engulfs Fanling recycling plant
About 120 firefighters took over 3½ hours to douse a blaze at a recycling plant in Fanling yesterday. The fire broke out at the site at 12.01pm. Four workers were rescued from the storage plant for plastic waste and electronic goods.
Female security guard burned in acid attack
An unnamed attacker threw corrosive acid at a woman security guard in Mong Kok, burning her face and limbs. The assault happened at a guardpost of HSBC Centre Tower in Sham Mong Road.
34 charged in student loan application fraud
Five people were charged with conspiracy to defraud and 29 charged with fraud for using false documents in applying for student loans amounted to more than HK$3 million.
9 pupils injured as car rams school bus
Nine pupils aged seven to 11 and their guardian were injured when a car rammed into their school bus on Jockey Club Road in Sheung Shui.
There was no winner of the first prize in last night's draw. The numbers were 1, 3, 10, 15, 17 and 40. The extra number was 28. The second prize of HK$399,340 was won by 3.5 tickets. Third prize paid HK$66,550.
