Swank by name, swank by nature at retailer's revamped concept store

Surely there are many painstakingly crafted leather goodies, hand-stitched footwear and embroidered couture gowns that deserve a place in an art gallery.

Multi-brand high fashion retailer The Swank marries art and fashion in its newly revamped concept store in Admiralty's Pacific Place mall.

In celebrating the grand opening of The Swank's concept store last Friday, the luxury retailer lent out part of its store to showcase local artists Florian Ma and Christine Ng.

Under the theme Natural Metamorphosis, the two artists set out to create their own interpretations.

Ma's work, titled Mutual Generation, is an installation featuring bent glass tubes and luminous neon lights, inspired by the five Chinese elements - earth, water, fire, wood and metal.

Ng's piece, Happy Forever, featuring a collection of photos on small cubes, depicts nature in its seemingly purest form, reflecting a world in the artist's wild imagination.

Celebrities and socialites turned out en masse to check out the art pieces and The Swank's new shop space, including Arnaud Barthelemy, Consul General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, and Paola Guida, of the Italian Trade Commission.

Guests savoured free flowing bubbles and canapés.

Some also got a flower bouquet and a customised bracelet made at the event.

The exhibition runs until October 21.
