A 45-year-old man was arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder of a mainland prostitute, whose naked body was found in a Yau Ma Tei flat the previous day.
The man, whose name was not revealed, was arrested by officers in Western District on Thursday morning, police said.
He was linked to the death of Lau Suk-king, who was found lying on her bed in a subdivided unit at 226 Shanghai Street around 11am on Wednesday. She had multiple cut wounds on her throat, with one about 13 centimetres long.
Detectives had earlier searched for her husband and her customers. It remained unclear if the arrested man was a client.
Police believe she was killed by someone she knew, because there was no sign of a struggle and the woman was naked when she was attacked.
Police were called in to the second-floor flat after Lau’s neighbour found the door half open and saw the woman’s body on a blood-soaked mattress.
