Bryanboy takes on the Paul Smith look

Many bloggers aspire to become the next Bryanboy. Since launching his blog almost eight years ago, the Manila-born, now New York-based, celebrity blogger, born Bryan Grey-Yambao, has been at the front row for fashion shows and rubbing shoulders at parties and events with industry veterans.

Yambao was in town last week to style different looks using scarves and pocket squares from Paul Smith's Day Dreaming with My Camera collection. The printed accessories feature photos of London city, taken by Smith himself.

"My style is eccentric but Paul Smith is classic and traditional. It's a nice collaboration because this collection is filled with prints and colours that I love," said the blogger on Friday as he worked on the styling job.

The only challenge he had was that the men's jackets seemed a tad too large for his trim little figure. But ever the flamboyant dresser, he shared accessorising tips.

"Don't be afraid to wear at any time of the day pocket squares and scarves. You can use a scarf as a belt or a pocket square as a wrist accessory," said Yambao. "You have to make it your own style but not follow what everyone else is doing."

The blogging super-hero sees greater competition in the trade now than eight years ago, when he first started.

"When I first started blogging there really wasn't any intention that I wanted to sit front-row or get free clothes," he said. "I want to tell a story to my audience and share my experiences.

"It's sad that a lot of younger bloggers today started blogging not because they have something to say but they want all the benefits coming from it. It doesn't work like that. You have to share your own world and point of view."

Asked what the future held for bloggers, he modestly said: "I want to explore more in creativity and design, but not having my own fashion line though. I have too much respect for the people in the field."

The looks he has styled with Paul Smith's accessories will be on show in Harbour City starting next Monday.
