A man was attacked by two robbers in Sheung Shui. The victim told police he was walking in the street when one man grabbed him from behind and another placed a plastic bag over his head, then tried to steal his belongings. The victim put up a struggle and escaped.
Police seized about 120 packets of what they suspect is cocaine and ketamine worth about HK$70,000 during a raid on an unlicensed bar in Tsim Sha Tsui. A 19-year-old man was detained in the operation.
Undersecretary for Transport and Housing Yau Shing-mu said a public consultation on changes to mechanism for adjusting public transport fares would end on November 18 as scheduled, since the department needed time to discuss the findings with the MTR Corporation.
A 36-year-old man suspected to have been involved in a case in which 55 mobile phones worth HK$100,000 were stolen from a shop in Shau Kei Wan in late September has been arrested.
A woman, 39, was arrested for possessing a suspected tear gas canister at Hong Kong Airport. The woman, a transit passenger, was detained after the canister was found in her handbag during a luggage check. She is also suspected of carrying other arms without a licence.
Ten people were injured after a bus swerved to avoid a bicycle and brushed against a hillside in Stanley, breaking two of its windows. Police said seven women and three men were hurt by glass fragments, but declined hospital treatment.
A female cleaner sustained facial injuries when what firefighters think was an explosive device went off and caused fire in a rubbish bin in Tsim Sha Tsui.
