The government could not disclose the name of a Mong Kok beauty clinic and its two staff who were arrested for giving illegal Botox injections for fear that the information may harm the possible legal procedures, the health minister yesterday.

President Hu Jintao will evaluate Hong Kong's performance over the past five years during the Communist Party's 18th national congress, which starts today, Li Gang , deputy director of the central government's liaison office, said. Li also said the party's leadership change would not affect policy on Hong Kong.

The government's steering committee on population policy has admitted 11 non-official members. One of them, Council of Social Service chief executive Christine Fang Meng-sang, hailed the decision.

Actress Li Choi-wah is being sued for defamation by the chairman of listed firm Universe International Holdings. Daneil Lam Shiu-ming said Li made slanderous statements against him at a charity event last week. He is seeking unspecified damages and an injunction.
