Hong Kong's relationship with Guangdong had changed from "radiating towards" the mainland city to one of inter-dependent co-operation, Communist Party general secretary Xi Jinping said. Xi made the remarks during a visit to Qianhai in Shenzhen, believed to have been be made on December 7, and shown on Shenzhen Satellite TV. "In the past, it was Hong Kong radiating toward Guangdong, but now it is Hong Kong-Shenzhen co-operation, Guangdong-Hong Kong co-operation, and a situation in which development is mutually fostered," Xi said.

Digital Broadcasting Corporation chief executive Morris Ho Kwok-fai placed a full-page advertisement in Chinese-language newspaper yesterday, saying that he co-founder Albert Cheng King-hon had filed a lawsuit under section 168A of Companies Ordinance complaining that DBC's affairs of had been conducted unfairly and were prejudicial to the interests of minority shareholders.

Police are investigating after four dogs were believed to have been poisoned in a container yard in Lok Ma Chau yesterday. Officers were called after a worker found the dogs suffering vomiting or dizziness about 10.45am. Two of the dogs, in a serious but non-life-threatening condition, were being treated at the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals clinic in Wan Chai last night. The other dogs were taken by their owner for treatment at a vet clinic.

A secondary school teacher was jailed for 32 months for money laundering yesterday. Lee Sin-man, 32, was found guilty in the District Court of laundering about HK$6 million in proceeds from indictable offences.
