Cathay Pacific Airways

Hong Kong carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways, was founded in 1946 by American Roy C. Farrell and Australian Sydney H. de Kantzow, offering scheduled passenger and cargo services. Cathay also owns Dragonair and in 2010, Cathay Pacific and Dragonair carried nearly 27 million passengers and over 1.8 million tonnes of cargo and mail. Cathay Pacific was a founder member of the Oneworld alliance.

Cathay, union to meet on Wednesday over pay

Following pressure from the Labour Department to head off industrial action, Cathay Pacific Airways and representatives of its flight attendants' union agreed to meet on Wednesday to discuss their differences over the 2 per cent pay rise offered by the airline.

Park Island residents want ferries reinstated

Residents of the Park Island complex on Ma Wan have called on developer Sun Hung Kai Properties to resume running ferries between the island and Tsuen Wan. They say the replacement bus service takes twice as long. The developer said the ferries were underused and heavily lossmaking.

CLP director warns of higher power prices

Opening up of the electricity market could push prices much higher in the long run after a short period of lower prices, CLP Power director Chan Siu-hung said, citing the experience of New York and Sydney.
