Two journalists from Hong Kong were attacked by unidentified men on Friday in Beijing while trying to interview the wife of Nobel Peace Prize winner and dissident Liu Xiaobo, one of their colleagues said.

The two journalists were cameramen working for Hong Kong television stations.

One cameraman from TVB was pushed to the ground, then punched and kicked by about five plain-clothed men, according to a female TVB reporter.

A second cameraman from another station was punched and his glasses were damaged by the same men, the reporter said.

The two were among a group of about 10 journalists from four Hong Kong television and radio stations, who, along with Hong Kong activist Yang Kuang, were waiting outside the home of Liu Xia.

The attackers, who did not identify themselves, suddenly appeared from around a corner, shouted at the group, demanded that they stop filming, hit journalists' cameras and attacked the two cameramen, said the reporter.

hard times !
Such nasty scenes/acts were committed in a country that claims to be the No.2 economic power and a rising military power as well. Yet its civilization is still in primitive era when violence was used to solve any issues/problems---2 Hong Kong cameramen were beaten up by five rascal-typed unindentified guys while filming outside jailed dissident , Liu Xiaobao ( a Nobel Prize of Peace winner)'s home----where his wife, Liu Xia has been under house arrest for over 1 year ! When cops were summoned, the rascals were not arrested or brought to police station for questioning.Maybe they are also disciplinary staff employed to maintain stablility which funds are more than defence cost ! How absurd it is ! Beating people without reason were not arrested for questioning but let them leave the scene. How can this country claims to be a civilized one which embraces law ? I wonder.
I think HK journalists deserve this.
Did none of these journalists ever consider that this might happen, given Beijing's sensitivity to all things Liu Xiabo? Or was this a deliberate attempt to provoke the secret police in order to secure imagery of police brutality and suppression of press freedom?
Charming place, China under the Communist Party
hard times !
It is really laughable that a country;s so-called internal stability fund exceeds her defence budget last year and this year as well. Employing so many unknown plainclothes cops--so-called maintaining stability guys to monitor a weak middle-aged woman, Liu Xia whose husband is being jailed in Beijing.Having a jailer's wife under house arrest is itself violates the Constitution of the PRC which guarantee her people's basic civil rights. What crime Ms Liu has committed ? I wonder. And how about our cameramen who were beaten up by 5 nasty **** ? If taking photos or filming were not allowed there, our reporters could be told so but not resort to violence ! Right ?
