Two Hong Kong residents died on Wednesday in an industrial accident in Guangzhou, while another is still in hospital with serious injuries.

The accident took place at a construction site in the town of Zhujiang, in central Guangzhou’s Tianhe district on Wednesday afternoon, the government said in a statement on Thursday.

Immigration staff from the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Guangdong (GDETO) visited the local hospital upon learning of the accident and said they had offered assistance to the affected family members.

The GDETO says residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline (852)1868 of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department.
