Plumber posing online as doctor tricks girls into having sex with him
A plumber posing as a female doctor on popular social networking programmes tricked girls he met online into sending him nude pictures which he then threatened to make public if they didn’t have sex with him, the High Court heard on Thursday.
In the Court of First Instance, Tang Tak-cheung, 28, pleaded guilty to 21 charges, including having sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16, possessing and making child pornography, procurement by false pretences and threats, and criminal intimidation.
Tang’s lawyers said he preyed on the nine secondary students involved, all between 12 and 17, because of a lack of confidence over his short stature.
The court heard that the 4 foot 11 inch man had been teased regularly by his classmates when in school and was twice jilted by his girlfriends because of his height.
As a result, he felt lonely and became addicted to preying young girls on QQ and WeChat.
The court also heard that Tang, on most occasions, posed as a female Taiwanese doctor to approach the victims asking them to send him photographs of their face, breasts and genitals on various pretexts, such as he was conducting research on puberty.
In one case, he told a 15-year-old girl, indentified as Y, that she was fat because there was a toxin in her body.
“In order to remove the toxin and have an attractive body, [the] defendant advised Y that she should either undergo an operation or have sexual intercourse and oral sex with a male who was not taller than 160 centimetres, had a beard and was between 25 and 26 years old,” prosecutor Rosaline Leung Sun-yee said.
On another occasion, he told a girl that she suffered from vaginal illness and she had to have sex with a man with a specific set of criteria to be cured.
The court heard that he would then approach the girls as the man with the required curable criteria.
If the girls were unwilling to have sex with him, he would disclose his identity and threaten to post their nude pictures on their school’s online forum and generally on the internet.
Tang’s crime came to light when the father of one of the girl involved noticed that she was very upset.
Mr Justice Albert Wong Sung-hau adjourned sentencing to September 16. He ordered a psychological report on Tang and victim impact assessment reports on the victims.
