Shoppers on a busy Hong Kong street escaped injury when a large signboard for a closed photo printing shop fell from a building.

The signboard struck a Mercedes-Benz car in Fuk Wing Street, Sham Shui Po, but the driver was unhurt.

Police could not reach the shop owner.

Hong Kong's Buildings Department takes action against owners of advertising signs that threaten public safety, but only in response to a complaint from a member of the public.
