A local kindergarten school chain said on Thursday that a photo circulating online showing a hooded student standing in the corner of a classroom was taken by one of its teachers.

Zenith Kindergarten and International Nursery said in statement the photo was taken by one of its teachers who had worked at the Yuen Long campus until the teacher was sacked in July.

The photo was dated July and the school believes that that was when it was taken.

In the photo, the child, wearing a school uniform, stands near the corner of a colourfully walled classroom.

The photo can still be found on the internet through search engines.

The school said it launched a probe into the incident after it received an anonymous e-mail earlier this month containing the photo.

The school has reported the incident to police and the Education Bureau.

It also said it was planning to install CCTV in its classrooms and leisure facilities.

Zenith operates five kindergartens in Hong Kong and one in Guangzhou.
