Hong Kong Jockey Club farrier acquitted of assault

Hong Kong Jockey Club farrier Haitze Wiersma, 47, was acquitted of two counts of assault after being accused of attacking two colleagues on a coach on June 10 last year.

Magistrate Cheang Kei-hong told Sha Tin Court that the witnesses had failed to identify Wiersma and one of the alleged victims was not shown to have suffered any injuries.

Jockey Matthew Chadwick was earlier fined HK$3,000 for criminal damage but acquitted of common assault in regards to the incident, after a party last year.

His 21-year-old wife, Wai Man-kuen, was placed on a good behaviour bond for a year by Cheang, for obstructing a police officer.
