Update | Fire in Kwun Tong housing estate, killing a woman and two children

A fire broke out in a publing housing estate in Kwun Tong, killing three people and injuring two in a family of five.

A fire broke out in a publing housing estate in Kwun Tong, killing three people and injuring two in a family of five.

Among the dead were a woman, 33, a girl and a boy, aged 5 and 2 respectively. A man, 53, and an eight-month-old baby were injured; the baby was in critical condition.

At around 3am, fire broke out in a flat in 20/F, Tsui Lok House, Tsui Ping (South) Estate. About 60 firefighters were mobilised and the fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes. Fire Services Department estimated the fire to have originated from the sitting room of the flat, its cause unsuspicious pending further investigation. They would also investigate if the man had attempted to put out the fire by himself using fire hose, and the cause for an air-conditioner falling off during the incident.

About 120 residents from the building had been evacuated. Fire Services Department said the fire safety system of the building was fuctioning normally.
