Reports of glitches and physical flaws in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus since Apple released its latest smartphones a week ago have failed to dampen enthusiasm for the devices in Hong Kong.

"They are still selling well, as usual, and sales haven't been affected because people don't think these flaws come from the phones themselves," said Rita Kwan, who runs iRainbow Telecom in Mong Kok's Sin Tat Plaza.

"Customers believe these problems mainly come down to human error," she said, referring to pictures circulating online of an iPhone 6 Plus being bent.

The internet has been abuzz this week with rumours the latest iPhones succumb to pressure and bend when enough force is applied - and that simply putting one in a back pocket and sitting on it may bend it.

On Wednesday, Apple was dealt another blow after customers reported problems running its latest operating system, iOS 8.0.1, on the new models. Many overseas users reported that after installing the new system - which is meant to fix the built-in Healthkit app - they could not make calls or activate Touch ID, which registers users' fingerprints. Some could not access photos; others reported flaws in the Reachability function - only available on the new phones.

Apple withdrew the update shortly after the reports.
