New | Six arrested after damage at Legco are banned from coming near complex

The six men arrested in connection with an attempt to break into the Legislative Council complex in the early hours of Wednesday have been bailed and barred from coming within 300 metres of the buildings.

The six men arrested in connection with an attempt to break into the Legislative Council complex in the early hours of Wednesday have been bailed and barred from coming within 300 metres of the buildings.

The six, aged between 18 and 24, face charges including criminal damage and assaulting police officers. They have not been asked to enter pleas.

Chefs Cheng Yeung and Tai Chi-shing, and two unemployed men Cheung Chi-pong and Shek Ka-fai, are accused of breaking two glass doors, several sections of glass wall and one staircase door.

Student Auyeung Chin-hung and Yuen Tsz-fung, a sale representative, are each charged with one count of assaulting a police officer.

A lawyer for Yuen said his client alleged that he was beaten up by police officers at the scene.

Prosecutor Vincent Siu asked for an adjournment, saying that police needed more time to examine defendants’ phones and conduct DNA and fingerprint tests.
