The family of Hong Kong jewellery designer and philanthropist Sandra d'Auriol has yet to hear from Californian prosecutors on whether criminal charges will be brought in relation to her death in a plunge from the roof of a Beverly Hills cosmetic surgery clinic.
The Beverly Hills Police Department has yet to conclude its criminal investigation into the circumstances of d'Auriol's death, though a coroner's report is due to be published within weeks.
Family members said the Los Angeles County Coroner had indicated that d'Auriol, 53, experienced a psychotic episode after a 13-hour surgical procedure.
Family members are waiting until they have "seen the facts" before deciding whether to pursue a civil case against the surgeon who operated on d'Auriol and the clinic that oversaw the procedure.
Guy d'Auriol, Sandra's brother-in-law, told the South China Morning Post: "Having spent months with people reading and researching and having a better understanding of the different post-operative neurobehavioural disturbance categories, it's clear to us that post-operative psychosis was the underlying cause that led to Sandra's death.
"This was the coroner's interim conclusion, and while the report is not available today, we've had some verbal confirmation from the investigating team that this was the main finding."
