Scholarships for city's best and brightest students
Annual awards recognise secondary school youngsters who have excelled in chosen subjects

A total of HK$133,000 will be granted to the city's best and brightest secondary school students in this year's Student of the Year Awards, organised by the South China Morning Post and sponsored by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
The annual awards, now in their 34th year, include a grand prize, which is awarded to the top three "all-round students" who have "outstanding academic results, extraordinary talents or achievements and show impressive personal accomplishments and contributions to the community".
The event will also award the top three students who excel in their chosen fields, including sports, performing arts, visual arts, community contribution, language, and science and maths.
The grand prize winner will receive a HK$25,000 scholarship, the first runner-up will get an HK$8,000 scholarship and the second runner-up HK$4,000.
The winners of the awards in the six fields will each receive HK$10,000 scholarships, and the first and second runners-up will get HK$4,000 and HK$2,000 respectively.
"We are confident that the Student of the Year Awards will continue to inspire students to live up to their full potential and be part of the most prestigious secondary school event in Hong Kong," said the Post's editor-in-chief Wang Xiangwei.
The awards, which started in 1974, ran for 32 consecutive years until 2006 and were reintroduced last year.
