Basic Law Institute chairman and senior counsel Alan Hoo is considering seeking an injunction and a protection order against his ex-girlfriend, a friend of his, who refuses to reveal their identity, told the South China Morning Post yesterday.

Hoo has been in a war of words through the city's newspaper columns with his actress girlfriend Liz Kong Hei-man following their split last year after two years together. However, reports suggest the two remain in the same house with their one-year-old daughter.

The source said Hoo officially handed the case to solicitor Barbara Hung yesterday, and she is now in charge of the legal proceedings.

"Barbara is still taking instructions from Hoo," the source said, adding that therefore not much detail would be available at this stage.

The source added that the details of the proposed court orders were based upon the advice of Hung, and the initial, formal legal procedures had already been initiated - including sending a notification letter to Kong.

Hoo yesterday refused to comment.

Chinese-language newspaper Oriental Daily News reported that the court writ for the injunction was to be filed for approval yesterday.
