A further 11 Occupy Central leaders face "arrest by appointment" as early as next week after receiving telephone calls from police yesterday.

It is understood that the activists will be arrested on suspicion of participating in an unauthorised assembly during their visit to the Wan Chai police headquarters, tentatively set for next week.

Among the 32 activists held in the first round of arrests last month, some were related to the more serious offences of organising, or inciting others to take part in, an unauthorised assembly.

These included student leader Joshua Wong Chi-fung and three Occupy founders - Reverend Chu Yiu-ming and academics Benny Tai Yiu-ting and Dr Chan Kin-man. No charges were laid against them but police reserved the right to prosecute.

Current and former lawmakers are understood to make up the majority of the 11 expected to be arrested next week.

They include Emily Lau Wai-hing, Dr Fernando Cheung Chiu-hung, Albert Ho Chun-yan, Helena Wong Pik-wan, Frederick Fung Kin-kee, Ip Kin-yuen and Charles Mok, as well as former legislators Audrey Eu Yuet-mee, Martin Lee Chu-ming and Tsang Kin-shing. Retired teacher James Hon Lin-shan is also on the list.
