Woman arrested for jabbing man in face a day after she won HK$1.41 million judgment against him
Rural leader claims 85-year-old jabbed him in face, hours after she won HK$1.41m judgment

A day after she was awarded HK$1.41 million in compensation for being driven off her farmland, an 85-year-old woman has been arrested for assault.
Lau Oi-kiu was accused of jabbing a finger in the face of rural leader Hau Chi-keung after she won the case against him and property agent Man Chun-shing in the Court of First Instance on Friday.
She was arrested yesterday for common assault and released on bail. Lau must report back to police at the end of the month. She has not been charged.
On Friday, the court ordered Hau, chairman of the Sheung Shui Rural Committee, and Man to pay Lau compensation for dumping waste on her farmland in Ho Sheung Heung, Sheung Shui, to drive her off it in 2009.
Lau returned to her home in the village immediately after the verdict, where she crossed paths with Hau along a narrow road. Tempers flared, and Hau called police, claiming Lau jabbed a finger in his face during their heated exchange.
The rural leader, who was wearing sunglasses at the time, told police he had been "beaten" and his eye hurt. He refused to go to the hospital for a check-up.
Police from Lok Ma Chau are looking into the case.
