Driver has lucky escape after crashing into light rail train in Tuen Mun

Car got wedged between train and railway barrier

A woman had a lucky escape after her car swerved onto railway tracks in Tuen Mun and was hit by a light rail train.

The 49-year-old motorist collided with the train as she made a left turn from Wu Chui Road onto Mei Lok Lane.

Her car got wedged between the train and the railway barrier at about 8.20pm on Thursday evening.

Firefighters were called to free her from the mangled vehicle.

She suffered minor injuries to her hand and was taken to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment.

She was not arrested following the accident, police said.

The 19-year-old train driver was assessed by paramedics at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The train service was suspended for about half an hour while emergency services worked on the scene but has since resumed.
