Hong Kong couples enjoy a bright and sunny Valentine’s Day
Temperatures were set to reach 20 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, with moderate to fresh winds throughout the day
Hongkongers woke up on Valentine’s Day to dry and sunny weather, but it will only last until the weekend when humidity is set to soar.
Couples can look forward to enjoying a warm day with the maximum temperature going up to about 20 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. At 9am the temperature was at 15.9 degrees.
The Observatory said there will be moderate to fresh easterly winds, occasionally strong offshore and on high ground at first.
The relative humidity was 62 per cent at 9am on Tuesday, with the Red Fire Danger Warning in force, meaning the fire risk was high.
According to the Observatory’s website, a relatively dry easterly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong.
Locally, the relative humidity over most parts of the city was 60 per cent or below on Tuesday morning.
The Observatory expects the relative humidity to go up to 70 to 95 per cent on Friday, with rain between Monday and Wednesday next week.
“Under the influence of a maritime airstream, it will be relatively humid with mist over the coast of Guangdong in the latter part of this week and early next week,” the Observatory said.
The Observatory also forecasts temperatures will rise gradually in the next couple of days.
