The 'One Belt, One Road' study trip: Hong Kong businesses offered chance to access India, Malaysia, Middle East, Africa and Europe

Hong Kong's Trade Development Council (TDC) is planning study tours for local companies to countries under Beijing's "One Belt, One Road" development initiative to identify new openings to boost the economy.
It will also set up a website with details on the initiative.
Business with countries covered by "One Belt, One Road" accounts for two-thirds of Hong Kong's total trade, but the city's export sector is skewed towards the mainland.
The 'One Belt, One Road" initiative refers to the creation of an economic land belt including the countries on the original Silk Road through Central Asia, West Asia, the Middle East and Europe, as well as a new maritime route that links China’s port facilities with the African coast, the Suez Canal and the Mediterranean.

Council chairman Vincent Lo Hong-sui said: "[After] we have set up the portal and the information is there, entrepreneurs should identify opportunities themselves.
"This is a golden opportunity for Hong Kong to make a major breakthrough. It can make use of our advantages and strengths."
