Among the 15 Hongkongers who remain missing in Nepal following the devastating earthquake there on Saturday is Zachary Sheridan, a 20-year-old Chinese University exchange student from Adelaide who is the brother of Australian actor Hugh Sheridan.

Zachary Sheridan, who studies communications at the Sha Tin school, was on Mt Everest when the quake hit, Hugh Sheridan said on Twitter on Saturday. The actor said on Sunday he was travelling to Nepal to look for his brother.

A spokeswoman for Chinese University said on Tuesday the institution was contacting the Australian Consulate and his original university. He was reportedly on a trekking holiday.

“I’m on my way to Nepal now and will travel to the base camp at Mount Everest to try and find Zachary,” Hugh Sheridan, who is best known for his role as Ben Rafter in the show Packed to the Rafters, said in a post on Instagram. He said the photo he shared was the last one Zachary Sheridan sent him.

“I will be with a small crew helping with a chopper, a dr and we will have a satellite phone available for any Australian there who needs to reach home and tell their loved ones they’re ok,” Hugh Sheridan wrote. “Stay positive everyone, I feel optimistic that he is alive and stuck.”
