He is normally seen cruising the streets of a fictional American city as he single-handedly attempts to rid the streets of dastardly criminals.

But now Batman has been spotted in the heart of Hong Kong, apparently suffering a spot of car trouble.

The crime-fighting hero was seen standing next to his broken-down batmobile in Central on Tuesday evening.

Photographs of the caped crusader speaking angrily on a phone, as he seemingly tried to call out a mechanic, emerged on Facebook hours after the sighting.

No film production staff were spotted nearby. His real identity was not yet known.

Studio-backed publicity stunt or not, the sighting came just one week before the release of the much-anticipated blockbuster Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
