Hong Kong singer Celine Tam, 9, handles pressure and critics with aplomb, father says
Family support behind why nine-year-old Celine Tam has the confidence of an adult superstar
As a father and a singing coach, nothing gives Steve Tam more pleasure than seeing his nine-year-old daughter Celine Tam Tsz-kwan from Hong Kong shine on America’s Got Talent and become an overnight social media sweetheart.
Celine took the internet by storm after a video of her performance on the hit show was posted on its Facebook page and YouTube channel, winning praises and a bevy of admirers.
“We as parents are just trying hard to give her the best of what she has always wanted,” Steve Tam said briefly in between his music classes in Hong Kong on Father’s Day.
“We support each other as family; we encourage each other to appreciate one another. We are working hard to achieve our goal.”
Hong Kong-born Celine started singing when she was just three years old. She is now a student at a school under the English Schools Foundation.
