Missing Hong Kong hiker found after overnight search
Man, 63, discovered conscious in Wu Kau Tang
A 63-year-old male hiker who went missing near a popular hiking trail in Tai Po on Thursday was found conscious after an overnight search.
Family members reported the man, surnamed Ng, missing at 8.30pm after losing contact with him in Wu Kau Tang.
Officers from the Fire Services Department looked for him throughout the night. Teams from the Government Flying Service and the Civil Aid Service were deployed on Friday morning to assist in the search.
Police said Ng suffered only minor scratches. He will be sent to North District Hospital for further check-up.
In May this year, a 30-year-old woman collapsed while hiking around Wu Kau Tang. She was found by other hikers and sent to a hospital, but died later. In April, a man, 60, fell down a slope after losing consciousness when hiking in Wu Kau Tang. His companions contacted police immediately, and he was taken to a hospital, but died later.
The two earlier cases were suspected to be linked to heat stroke due to hot weather.
