Monsoon to bring cool weather and stronger winds to Hong Kong

Temperatures to fall to as low as 20 to 24 degrees Celsius by next Wednesday

Hongkongers can look forward to some cooler weather in the next few days, after a summer that saw record highs.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, temperatures will drop from between 24 and 31 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday to as low as 20 to 24 degrees next Wednesday.

Winds will also strengthen in the next few days.

The Observatory said that a surge of the northeast monsoon would reach the coast of Guangdong on Saturday, bringing cooler weather to the region.

It added that the monsoon was expected to persist over southern China next week.

Just last month, Hong Kong recorded its hottest September day in more than half a century, with temperatures going as high as 36 degrees in Happy Valley.
