Four Hong Kong workers injured in construction site accident

Four non-ethnic Chinese workers were taken to hospital on Friday night after suffering serious injuries at a construction site in Ta Kwu Ling.

A report was made to police shortly before 6pm saying a worker was unconscious after falling from a 7.6-metre-high working platform at the Lin Ma Hang Road site.

Officers arriving at the scene found four injured workers, a police spokeswoman said.

“The platform suddenly collapsed when the four workers were working on it,” she said.

“Initial information showed two of them were unconscious and the other two suffered serious injuries,” she said.

The age of the four ranged from 22 to 50, and were all non-ethnic Chinese.

Two of the workers, aged 50 and 38, hurt their head and were taken to Prince of Wales Hospital in Sha Tin unconscious. One of them – the 38-year-old man, who also suffered from chest pain – regained consciousness after treatment.

The other two were sent to North District Hospital in Sheung Shui.

The police treated the case as an industrial accident and found no suspicious circumstances.
