Hong Kong film star Andy Lau remains in hospital after being thrown from out of control horse
Actor receiving treatment for pelvic injuries after returning to the city from Thailand
Hong Kong singer and film star Andy Lau Tak-wah remained in hospital on Thursday to get treatment for his pelvic injuries after he was thrown off a horse during a commercial shoot in Thailand.
The 55-year-old actor, singer and producer was flown back to Hong Kong on a medical charter flight at about 10.30pm on Wednesday and sent to the Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital in Happy Valley at midnight.
Lau, who was wearing a cap and surgical mask, was conscious when he was helped into the hospital on a stretcher at about 1.15am.
The star looked around but did not respond to inquiries from the media pack surrounding him at the site.
A small wound between his eyebrows was visible.
His wife, Carol Chu Lai-sin, who reportedly rushed to Thailand to see him after she learned of the incident, showed up the hospital separately.
Lau arrived in Thailand on Monday and worked on the shoot for the advertisement for a drink at Khao Lak.
During the shoot on Tuesday, the horse reportedly lost control, throwing Lau to the ground and stepping on his back, fracturing his lower back.
Lau released a statement through Topman Global Limited, a subsidiary of the his Focus Group, on Wednesday, saying everything was fine and called on his supporters not to worry about him.
