Hong Kong wakes to heavy rain as thunderstorm signal extended
Observatory had warned of floods in low-lying areas
Hong Kong was drenched in heavy rain again on Monday morning as the amber rainstorm signal was issued, hours after a severe tropical storm passed.
But that signal was cancelled at 8.55am, as the Observatory extended a thunderstorm warning, which was issued at 11pm on Sunday, to 1pm.
The Observatory said an active southerly airstream had brought squally showers to the coast of Guangdong province.
The weather is expected to improve over the next few days with sunny periods and a few showers.
