Hong Kong judge orders retrial for man accused of killing his girlfriend, saying trial judge misdirected jury
Appeal court argues that judge in original trial made mistakes in directing the jury

A security guard had his conviction for murdering his ex-girlfriend overturned after the appellate court found that the original trial judge made a series of mistakes in his directions to the jury.
Mr Justice Michael Lunn, the Court of Appeal's vice-president, ordered that Poon Man-sum face a new trial on a single count of murder.
Last year, Poon was jailed for life in the Court of First Instance for killing his former girlfriend Law Yuk-yu in 2012 after realising that she had had an affair with a colleague.
He is also serving 12 years in prison for twice attacking Law's lover, Chan Tai-wai, with a chopper and pursuing him as he fled.
In October 2012, the lower court heard, Law informed Poon that she intended to end their relationship, and admitted she had been in contact with Chan.
On November 28, 2012, Poon brought some food to Law's Tai Po home - where she rejected his request to resume the relationship.
Poon then picked up a knife in the sitting room, saying he would kill himself, the earlier trial heard. He was stopped by Law who told him not to be childish. "If you want to die, don't die here, go somewhere else," she said.
