Everything but the kitchen sink: Hong Kong man throws objects from 27th floor flat in police stand-off

A 50-year-old Hong Kong man threw furniture, a burning metal tray and hot water from the window of his public housing flat during a stand-off with police.

A 50-year-old Hong Kong man threw furniture, a burning metal tray and hot water from the window of his public housing flat during a stand-off with police in the early hours of this morning.

The man tossed items including a wooden cabinet, broken furniture and a hair dryer then allegedly attacked officers with an iron bar after they broke down the door of the 27th floor flat at Kwai Leung House on the Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate.

“One police officer had his front tooth broken and the other policeman suffered minor hand injuries in the incident,” a police spokeswoman said.

She said the suspect was also injured on the head, arms and legs.

All the wounded were taken to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong for treatment.

Shortly after 5.30am, police received a call from the man who claimed that someone had died, according to police. Officers were sent to his flat to investigate.
