Police arrested two men and confiscated illegal drugs with an estimated street value of HK$6.25 million at a private housing estate in Hong Kong on Friday.

The two Hongkongers, aged 29 and 41, were intercepted by officers from the police’s Narcotics Bureau at Oscar by the Sea, a private housing estate on Pung Loi Road in Tseung Kwan O at about 6.30am, according to police.

Officers seized seven kilograms of suspected ketamine and 18 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, also known as drug Ice, in bags they were carrying.

“The drugs had an estimated street value of HK$6.25 million,” a police spokesman said.

Police arrested the pair for drug trafficking. On Friday afternoon, the two suspects were still being detained at the police headquarters in Wan Chai for questioning and had not been charged.

Officers were still investigating whether the drugs were for local consumption and where they came from.
