Hong Kong’s terrorist threat level remains ‘moderate’ despite Brussels attacks, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying says
But Leung cautions that Hongkongers are facing regional security risks

Hong Kong’s terrorist threat level remains “moderate”, Chief Executive Leung Chun-ying said on his blog on Thursday, two days after suicide bomb attacks rocked Brussels.
But Leung cautioned that Hongkongers were facing regional security risks amid a complex and volatile international situation, adding that the administration must stay on high alert and make preparations to protect Hong Kong residents.
“We cannot take good order for granted,” Leung said.
In the past three years, the police have conducted a total of 146 counterterrorism and major incident contingency drills, mostly with other government departments and organisations, security minister Lai Tung-kwok told lawmakers in January.
Lai said the Customs and Excise Department adopted a risk management approach and takes appropriate control measures at various control points in light of terrorist threat assessments and actual circumstances, and would tighten interception of suspected persons and inspection of suspected cargo as necessary.
