A family of three including a four-year-old girl were injured after being hit by a truck in Lam Tin during lunchtime on Thursday.

The couple aged 42 and 46 and their daughter were trying to cross Lei Yue Mun Road near Lam Tin Ambulance Depot when they were knocked down by the vehicle at a pedestrian crossing shortly before 1.30pm.

“The girl had head and leg injuries while her father suffered serious injuries to his head and hand,” a police spokeswoman said.

They were carried away on stretchers while wearing oxygen masks and neck supporters and taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei for treatment.

It was understood the truck was transporting frozen meat from Sheung Shui to Yau Tong.

Kowloon East police are investigating whether a red light was showing for pedestrians at the time of the crash.
