Fatal head-on crash kills one, leaves two in a serious condition
Police appeal for witnesses after an accident in Tseung Kwan O early Monday
One man has died and two others have been seriously injured after their cars collided head-on in Tseung Kwan O on Monday morning.
The 38-year-old man, surnamed Chu, was driving his BMW northbound along Tai O Mun Road just after midnight when it reportedly hit a seven-seater vehicle travelling in the opposite direction towards Po Toi O Chuen Road.
Firefighters pulled both drivers and a passenger from the wreckage.
“Sustaining multiple injuries, the 38-year-old driver was rushed to Tseung Kwan O Hospital at 1.57am,” a police spokesman said.
He was certified dead soon after he arrived at hospital.
The 29-year-old driver of the seven-seater vehicle named Chan, and a 26-year-old male passenger named Siu were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and Tseung Kwan O hospital respectively in a serious condition.
Both lanes of Tai Au Mun Road were temporarily shut by police.
Police said investigations into the events that led to the fatal accident were underway, and appealed to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact the Kowloon East Special Investigation Team of Traffic.
