No injuries reported after BMW car bursts into flames in Hong Kong

Driver earlier told by passing motorist smoke was emitting from his vehicle; firefighters later doused the flames

A motorist escaped with no injuries when his BMW seven-seater car burst into flames in To Kwa Wan on Wednesday afternoon.

The man, 27, was driving his car along Kowloon City Road heading towards Choi Hung when the incident happened shortly after 3pm.

“He was alerted by the driver of a passing vehicle that his car was emitting smoke,” a police spokeswoman said.

He pulled over on Kowloon City Road near the junction with San Shan Road and found smoke coming from the bottom of the car, according to police. The car later burst into flames.

The spokeswoman added that the driver also tried to fight the blaze before emergency personnel arrived, but the fire was eventually put out by firefighters.

She said that no one was injured in the incident and firemen were investigating the cause of the blaze.
