A citywide police hunt for a sex offender is under way after two girls aged eight and 11 were indecently assaulted in two separate incidents in Sau Mau Ping over the past two weeks.

The suspect is thought to be aged between 30 and 40, thinly built and about 1.7 metres tall, with short hair.

The first attack, which involved the 11 year old, occurred on Ngau Tau Kok Road earlier this month. Her family made a police report a week ago.

The second incident happened at Po Tat Estate off Sau Mau Ping Road on Monday.

Investigations showed the two victims were attacked by the same man, according to a police source.

The cases are being treated as indecent assault and officers from Sau Mau Ping district crime squad are investigating. No one has been arrested so far.

Anyone with information should contact police on 3661 6239. Police figures show there were 584 reports of indecent assault in the first seven months of the year, a 2.2 per cent fall compared with 597 in the same period last year.
