Toppled truck on flyover scatters bricks and halts traffic, rerouting more than 20 bus services
No one was injured, say police, as driver taken to hospital and an investigation is underway
Traffic was disrupted Monday morning with multiple bus routes affected, as a construction truck travelling on a Choi Hung flyover toppled over, scattering bricks across the road and down to the ground below.
According to police, no pedestrians were injured, despite the bricks being flung onto the pavement outside Choi Hung Estate.
The loaded truck was on the flyover leading from Kwun Tong Road to Lung Cheung Road when the crash occurred shortly after 10.30am.
“The driver was injured in the incident. He climbed out of the vehicle after it toppled to one side. The man suffered minor injuries and was conscious when taken to United Christian Hospital for treatment,” a police spokesman said.
Due to the accident, the flyover, which links to Wong Tai Sin, was closed to traffic while more than 20 Kowloon Motor Bus services were affected and had to be rerouted, according to the Transport Department. Motorists were advised to use alternative routes.
The flyover was reopened at 3.30pm.
Traffic policemen from the Kowloon West traffic unit are investigating. No arrest has been made.
