Hong Kong police have made an arrest after a hunt for a man with a brown poodle in connection with the murder of a 49-year-old man who was knifed to death in Wong Tai Sin on Thursday.

The 53-year-old suspect was arrested on Friday evening and is in custody pending further investigation, police said in a statement on Saturday.

The victim was on his way home at about 7pm on Thursday when he ran into the man with the poodle and got into an argument with him at Lung Wai House in Lower Wong Tai Sin Estate, according to police.

The perpetrator used a “sharp object” to stab his victim, who sustained fatal injuries.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the attack or with any information to contact the investigating officers on 6277 4718 or 3661 6157.
