Hong Kong boy and girlfriend, both 14, arrested after abortion
Form Two pupil is suspected of having unlawful sexual intercourse with her, and both thought to have administered drug to terminate the pregnancy
Police arrested a boy and his girlfriend, both 14, on Thursday night after she had an abortion at her home in Aberdeen.
On Thursday, the girl, a Form Three pupil, complained of feeling unwell hours after the abortion and was sent to the Queen Mary Hospital for treatment. Her mother, 34, called police at about 8.15pm that evening after learning she had an abortion.
Initial investigations showed the fetus had been disposed of on the seaside of a public housing estate in Aberdeen, a police source said.
Police said the young lovers were suspected to have had sex last year.
After realising she was pregnant, the girl took herbal medicine on Wednesday, and had an abortion at her home in Wah Kwai Estate the next day, the source said.
“Her boyfriend then took the fetus and threw it away on the seaside of the estate,” he said, adding that the herbal medicine was bought in Mong Kok.
After investigations, officers picked up the boy, a Form Two student, at his home in Aberdeen.
Police arrested him on Thursday night on suspicion of having unlawful sexual intercourse with a girl under the age of 16 and administering a drug to procure an abortion. Police arrested the girl on Friday on the latter suspicion. She too has not been charged.
On Friday night, the boy was still held at the Western police station for questioning, but he has not been charged.
Investigators from the Western district crime squad were looking into the case.
