Officer loses police mobile wireless phone while on duty, sparking search and public appeal
Anyone who finds device is urged to contact police or take it to nearest station
An officer attached to the Central District Police Patrol squad has lost a police mobile wireless phone.
According to the department, the officer realised he lost the device while on duty in Central on Wednesday.
Upon receiving his report, police immediately launched an investigation and a search, but have not recovered the phone. The case is listed as a loss of government property.
Police are appealing to members of the public to immediately call 999, take the phone to the nearest police station or call 2859 9213 if they find the item.
The department stressed that there were strict rules on the storage and use of police equipment. Internal investigations will be conducted over this incident. If police personnel are found to have broken the law, they will be dealt with seriously.
