Woman among 18 people wounded on Changchun city street by knifeman, believed to be mentally ill
A Hong Kong tourist was among 18 people wounded by a knifeman who attacked people on a street in the northeastern Chinese city of Changchun.
The woman, aged about 50, sustained injuries to her abdomen when the assailant, reported to be mentally ill, struck on Tuesday night.
She remained in a Changchun hospital on Wednesday and was in a stable condition, according to the Hong Kong Immigration Department.
The attack happened after the victim and her mother left their hotel after completing their itinerary for the day, according to Hong Thai Travel, which organised the tour to the northeast, including Jilin, Harbin and Mount Paektu.
Other members of the group were continuing with their tour.
